Villahermosa Travel Guide
Villahermosa is the gorgeous capital city of Tabasco, also known as the "Emerald of Southeastern Mexico", due to the vibrant colors of the lush vegetation within and around the city. Much of the architecture in Villahermosa dates back to the mid 19th Century, because of reconstruction after US and French invasions, which left much of the city in ruins. Some of the most important buildings, such as churches and government buildings were restored to their original splendor, but most of the city lost its colonial appearance.
It is also said that Tabasco is an Eden in itself and Villahermosa proves this, with its tropical weather and many natural attractions and parks such as, La Venta, Tomas Garrido Canabal or La Choca. There's also the Yumka natural reserve and zoo. If you're planning a vacation filled with adventure then Villahermosa is the best choice in Mexico for you!
On the other hand, travelers can also take a stroll through the downtown, where there are many restaurants with varied menus, from grilled pejelagarto to chipilin tamales or choose from a long list of more than a hundred different seafood specialties.
Due to the oil resources located throughout Tabasco, Villahermosa has become one of the wealthiest cities in southeastern Mexico and a destination for many business travelers. As you can see, Villahermosa has many ways of enchanting its visitors to come back again and again!
